Taken at the annual
carnival behind the Blessed
Sacrament church on
Sunset Boulevard at
Las Palmas in Hollywood,
which sprawls over the
big parking lot. He'd had his
face painted in the face painting
booth, and didn't smile when
asked to pose, but stared
right at me
with the ferris wheel spinning
behind him in the cool dark
and the
luminous blur of the
carnival in motion.
